Many decades ago, I asked my apple tree intuitively, what I should do to attract clients and business. I had found my apple tree natural design, and wanted to honor my true self by building a business that expressed this truth. But I had an allergy towards selling, and didn’t want to offer services to the world in a way that was anything less than authentic. And this was a dilemma. How do you trade? Do you do business in a way that is not a cheesy infomercial, in a way that is not about grabbing? In a way that honors the true self which is love.
My intuition told very simply, “to be like a flower.” At first I was puzzled, thinking that this was not a very helpful marketing strategy. But soon the wisdom revealed itself, and became a principal that I used to build my business, and all of its products. Which became very successful in the world.
Be like a flower — be your natural self, don’t hide out of fear of seeming to be arrogant, it is a kind of arrogance to make yourself small. It is just as egotistical to shrink back as it is to puff oneself up. An apple tree doesn’t say, “I am better than” but neither does it say, “I am less than” — it simply says “I am this.”
Be like a flower means with love, open to be invisible, share your color, share your fragrance with the world. There is no need to grab, to push or to pull. When the bees that want your pollen come by, they will be able to see, and they will be attracted to what you have to offer. For those that are not meant to do business with you, to learn from you, buy your courses or your artwork, they will fly on by. You need not do anything but be like a flower.
This pen and ink sketch, is in honor of that moment. It is an expression of gratitude for wisdom and intuitive guidance that put me on the path to be like a flower, and to build courses and products that have served many tens of thousands over the years.
