To find your true self, which I call your Apple Tree.
These posts focus on sharing “How to find the true self.” Developing your intuition in a way that serves self-realisation is the primary teaching.
Asking the question, “Who am I?” is the most important question you can ever ask. And going on the quest to find the answer to “Who am I?”— is the highest quest. The search for purpose, meaning, happiness, peace and love are all hidden in the search for the self. Seekers of truth find the treasure and end their search when they realise their true self.
The ultimate prize is to realise what we truly are, that we are already everything we are looking for. But the surprise is that we are never what we think you are. The mind cannot give us our true self, in fact the mind, and our preoccupation with thought can be the biggest barrier to realising the self. This is why intuition, when used in service of the Apple Tree is so helpful.
The Apple Tree is my symbol for the true self.
The biggest problem with not knowing the true self is that in the absence of self-knowledge, of truly knowing what we really are, a false self can take up control of the flow our lives. This causes suffering on a personal and collective level.
Intuitively many of us have a sense that there is more to life that what meets the eye, and more to the appearance of the self. We feel that we are not what we see in the mirror, but finding the true self is not an easy path, even though ironically we are already everything we seek. Hidden in plain sight.
Some of the obstacles that we face on the path to finding the true self include:
- Believing that we are the body or the mind.
- Believing that we are not whole and complete and therefore endlessly seeking fulfilment though experiences, relationships and objects.
- Believing that we are our personalities, desires and fears.
My inner teacher patiently showed me that we are not our thoughts, not our personalities, not the body or mind. I share this now with others in gratitude. If you are drawn to teachings that balance wisdom and intellect, spiritual and worldly grounding, love and hard won truth, then these artworks, videos and writings are here to serve you.
I can tell you that with self-knowledge, after self-realisation, life flows with natural purpose, life is freed to move intuitively and in service to itself. This doesn’t mean that life’s obstacles are magically removed, it does mean that you have the inner peace to meet life’s challenges with grace and wisdom.
The peace, love and happiness that we were seeking is found, not in experiences, not in striving to achieve, not in becoming anything, but in the simple resting in and as the true self.
These posts and dialogues are here to support your intuitive self-enquiry, your enlightened journey to knowing yourself as you truly are. I join the choir of many voices singing us not to sleep, but to wake. We sing the same song together.
